After leading her team to a perfect 4-0 record over the weekend, Seward County sophomore outside hitter Daiane Souza has been named the KJCCC Player of the Week. Souza was a model of consistency over the weekend, recording at least 2 kills in all 14 games for Seward.

The Seward County Lady Saints struggled some in their opening match win of the Lamar Kick-Off Classic against Dodge City but turned things on from there and after beating Otero and Lamar, finished the weekend with a three set sweep over powerful Laramie County to finish the tournament 4-0 as they roll into conference play this week.

Employees of Badger Daylighting of Liberal demonstrated their Mobile Hydrovac Excavation System as they dug a pipeline ditch at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School. The free lunch including pork burgers and hotdogs donated by Seaboard Farms and the demonstration gave visitors the opportunity to learn about the Corrosion Technology program at SCCC/ATS. An Evening of Harmony, featuring Music Instructors Magda Silva and Darin Workman, raised money for the  Seward County Community College/ Area Technical School Foundation recently to help fund music scholarships. The evening included both Jazz and Opera selections by the two musicians.

Seward County Community College/Area Technical School in Liberal, Kansas, is offering a new course: Personal Development for the Workplace from 6:30-9:30 p.m., Wednesdays, beginning, Aug. 17.
This three-credit hour course is designed for students who test into the developmental reading, writing, and math courses. It has minimal reading required and will teach basic leadership, teamwork, and employability skills along with confidence building.

Seward County Community College/Area Technical School in Liberal, Kansas, is offering a new degree option: an associate in applied science in technical studies.
The degree requires the completion of a minimum of 15 credit hours in two programs approved by the Kansas Board of Regents or 30 hours of specialized preparation. In addition, a student will take 15 general education hours.
This degree is designed to prepare graduates for immediate employment.

The Sports Management Associate in Science Degree is taught within the Business Administration Department. The courses introduce students to business principles and sports industry basics.
