The Seward County Community College Board of Trustees conducted its December meeting recently, which was preceded by a dinner/meeting with a number of SCCC students. This semi-annual event provides the students an opportunity to discuss their educational and campus life experiences with the Trustees. Comments and suggestions from the students are then included in Board and college administrative planning and actions.

During the regular meeting policies were reviewed and a resolution regarding legislative funding initiatives was adopted. The Board reviewed the Early Retirement Policy and will bring the policy back to the January meeting for final action. The Board approved modifications to the Senior Citizen Courtesy Card policy. The policy was modified to provide the card to individuals above 55 years of age who are residents of the Kansas counties in the College service area and those who reside in the designated border counties in Oklahoma, Texas, and Colorado. The decision to extend the Courtesy Card to a larger area is designed to encourage residents to enjoy college events and services.
